Traditional Tanning
We offer tanning services using only traditional and natural methods to transform deer, sheep and fish skins into leather and rugs. The method we use is 100% natural and the same that our ancestors would have used hundreds of years ago, using tree bark and oils to produce beautiful, ethical and fully bio-degradable leather. The deer skins are sourced from local estates, since in Scotland the deer population has to be managed for ecosystem health, preventing these hides ending up in landfill and ensuring the life of the deer is honoured and nothing is wasted. We also provide courses and workshop to teach these traditional tanning methods to preserve and continue this ancient craft.
